Arrive Delhi at Midnight. Garland welcome and transfer to hotel near the airport.
Early morning start to take one of the world’s spectacular flights from Delhi across the plains and over theHimalayas – if your eyesightisgood enoughyou can even seeK2! Arrive Leh (3505 mts) – thecapital of the ancient Buddhist Kingdom. Traditional welcome on arrival and transfer to Nimmu village about 45 minutes from the airport, where you will get a full day to relax and acclimatize to the high altitude at your comfortable rural heritage accommodation Nimmu House. In the evening enjoy indoor activities at Nimmu House like a library with books on Ladakhi & Tibetan culture.
Late morning after a nice breakfast guided gentle slow paced walking, through the village about 2 hrs with its monastery, old caravan serai, its gardens and orchards. Back to Nimmu House for Lunch.After lunch an excursion to Alchi gompa with guide. Alchi Choskar “Religious Enclave” is a group of temples which is1000 years old, was built by the great Tibetan translator & scholar Lotsava Richen Zangpo. These group of temples are famous for its rare frescoes, wood carvings and stucco art.
After breakfast drive about 1 hour to reach Yangthang village, the head of our walk. The drive is through the zig-zag narrow road which offers fine views of the mountains, village & chortens. Yangthang is a small pretty village with about 20 families. Hill walk along the stream with willow trees and bushes along side. This walk will take us about 3 hours to reach Rizong Monastery. The trail is used by local villagers, monks and shepherds since ancient times. Later Pick-up and transfer to Nimmu house for stay with breakfast, Lunch & dinner.
After breakfastdrive to Lamayuru (3440 M) by jeep take about 45 minutes. At Lamayuru visit Yangdrung monastery “Swastika”. The present building standing above the oasis of the village, is a later construction. The first monastery was built at the end of the 10th century. After visitdrive to Mulbekh and visit magnificent Mulbekh Monasteries.
Continue drive to Shargolewherewe stayed in Nankun Camp for overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Sonamarg (about 04 to 05 hrs drive ) . it is a major stop over for travelers to Srinager and Zanskar. In sonamarg , the journey ends at the camp where you will be welcomed with cold/hot towels and a cup of tea. Settle into your tent, which has a double/ twin beds, Kashmiri carpets, and large windows to enjoy the fabulous views from your bed! Each tent has its own Toilet and shower tent just at the back.
Overnight Sonamarg Camp.
Bed tea will be served in your tent, then after breakfast, we take about 3hrs walk on the rolling hills to the Gujar (Nomad) Huts at upper Lichpather. As we ascend towards the huts, the views get increasingly beautiful towards Sonmarg and across to the Thajawas glaciers. We will be invited by the Gujar family to enjoy a hot cup of salt tea,and to see how they live. We return back to our camp for hot lunch and the evening meal will be served under the stars, around a bonfire!
Today say goodbye and after breakfast drive to Srinagar, stopping for Lunch at Villa Himalaya. After Lunch, continue the drive to Srinagarm, the journey passing the 8th century Shiva Temple complex at Naranag,.On arrival in Srinagar, we drive past the crocus fields and fruit orchards to the shores of the Dal Lake where we stay 4 nights in the eco luxury houseboat Sukoon. In the evening,enjoy a gentle shikara (Kashmiri canoe) ride through wetlands in the heart of the lake to see people farming on the manmade islands cultivating flowers and vegetables. Sukoon enjoys an incomparable position moored on the shores of Dal lake with glorious views across Dal lake to snow covered peaks of Pir Panjal, old fort and hilltop temple.
Inhale the morning air as you tuck into a hearty breakfast on the sundeck of Sukoon.This morning take a fascinating walk through the by-lanes of the old city with a local guide, observing the markets, heritage buildings and day to day life, as well as learning about Sufism and how it reflects the Kashmiri way of life. The last stop today on our itinerary is the Zaina Kadal Market to soak up the atmosphere so typical of a local market like the bazaar of Ali Baba. Enjoy a birds eye view of the valley from the temple precincts are truly breathtaking around sunset. After visiting the temple you take shikara crossing back to Sukoon and it delights!
This morning rise very early to take shikara boats to backwaters and be amongst the colourful tranquil floating fruit and vegetable market where local merchants ply their fresh produce, saffron and flowers and see the old barter system which is an engaging experience. Warm cup of Kashmiri herbal tea will be offered during the cruise.Back for another wonderful breakfast on Fizaa. Late morning take an experience of Zawarban hike for about 3-4 hrs (5500 ft) .This hiking tour is nearly a day long from the time we leave Sukoon after breakfast and return to trek base. From here pick-up and transfer back to Sukoon.
Morning after breakfast transfer with our assistance to airport and board flight to New Delhi.
