WHERE WOLVES HUNT BISON
OVERVIEW
Who would have imagined it was possible to witness wild wolves hunting the mighty bison. Not on the great American plains, but just a couple of hours flight away, through the forests and across the wild meadows of Eastern Poland and Slovakia. This tour takes us to a stunning area of Europe, where large mammals still roam freely and are possible to see whilst we traverse their habitat on foot, as we may have done hundreds of years ago.
Besides expecting to see the extremely rare European bison, we have an excellent chance to spot wolves and beavers busily around their dams. The area also has bears, lynx, wild boar, red and roe deer and a diverse bird population.

ITINERARY
Arrive at Poprad airport in Eastern Slovakia, possibly connecting with the “Walking With Bears” trip in Slovakia. Drive to the Senne Ponds, famed for the diversity of birdlife in the area. Take an evening walk around the ponds with an expert guide. Overnight at the Nova Zem ranch.
Wake up early for a morning walk around the shoreline of Senne before returning for breakfast and driving on, over the Polish border, to Bieszczady National Park. Take an afternoon walk to a beaver dam to watch for these amazing creatures who are usually active in the late afternoon working on their incredible constructions. Overnight hotel in the Rajskie area. (Breakfast).
Head out before dawn by car to a remote spot and then walk to look for bison, wolves and other fauna among the forests and meadows of the Bieszczady national park. Back to the hotel for a late breakfast.
Return to the park for a walk which skirts the river, passes several beaver dams and finishes at a beautiful vantage point from which to look for wildlife.
A small hide affords a great opportunity to watch for wildlife before returning to the hotel after dark. Overnight hotel (Breakfast & packed-lunch).
Once again starting early for a final a chance to head into the park in search of Europe’s greatest fauna before heading back to the hotel for breakfast. Following breakfast transfer to Poprad airport. (Breakfast).
